Sports: NBA star Deron Williams injures ankle; Larry Hughes and Kobe Bryant injury updates

Deron Williams suffered an ankle injury Tuesday night in pre-season play against the Bulls. The Jazz said he is out for at least two weeks and will miss the first two games of the season. Back-up Ronnie Price is most likely going to fill his position at point guard.

Larry Hughes injured his shoulder last night in a pre-season game against the Timberwolves. The team is waiting for a 2nd MRI on Friday to diagnose how bad it is and how long he’ll be out. He didn’t practice today.

Laker Fans can breathe a sigh of relief knowing that Kobe’s knee injury is not serious. Kobe told reporters today that his knee was a little sore but it shouldn’t be anything serious. This is after he hyper-extended his knee on Tuesday night in the second quarter against the Bobcats. He never returned to the game.
